Student Wellness Center

The Student Wellnss Center better defines what this facility has become. With the recent Athletic and Recreation Complex renovation project, the conversion from the previous Recreation Center into a comprehensive facility designed to support overall student health and wellness.

The upgraded facility includes a new synthetic flooring system, which will increase the number of courts from three to four. The former 160-meter track was converted into a two-lane walking/jogging track adding cardio space, group exercise rooms with equipment and a netting system. The racquetball courts were converted into general student locker rooms with lockers, showers, a dry sauna room and restrooms. The second level now features additional offices and an open classroom area along with student lounge and study spaces that helps provide an exceptional overall student engagement experience.

The former Wayne State College Recreation Center opened in 1987 and is the college's main area for student recreation and selected athletic activities.  The current 58,000-square foot Recreation Facility underwent a renovation that was completed in the spring of 2025 that is now known as the Student Wellness Center.
