Sportsmanship Rating

The Wayne State College Intramural Program strives to have a healthy, fun, and safe environment for all who participate in the sporting activities they enjoy. This sportsmanship rating is here to ensure the above stay true. Actions by teams before, during, or after the contest are subject to be included in this rating. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a civil and sporting manner.

4-Point Rating Scale
Below will define the 4-point rating system. All teams must maintain an average (3.0) rating to advance into the postseason. If teams repeat poor ratings (2.0 or under), they may be subject to suspensions or disqualifications. The listed criteria are not complete and may be subject to intramural staff’s discretion. All appeals of a poor rating must be submitted to the campus recreation coordinator within 24 hours of notification. An investigation will take place, and a conclusion will be made within 5 class days.

4 – Excellent
  • Team is positive and respectful toward opponents, teammates, intramural staff, and spectators before, during, and after the contest. Team displays a model performance of true sportsmanship.
3 – Good
  • Team shows no unsporting behavior and is mostly respectful to the opposing team, intramural staff, and spectators. Players’ actions do not result in a conduct penalty (yellow card, technical foul, or unsportsmanlike conduct penalty).
2 – Poor
  • Team or player complains, but is not aggressive towards opposing teams, staff, or spectators.Teams that receive one conduct penalty cannot receive higher than a 2.0 rating. Above-average sporting behavior is conducted the remainder of the contest.
1 – Unacceptable
  • Multiple team members are involved with unsporting actions towards opponents, staff, or spectators. A team that has a member ejected from game cannot receive a grade higher than a 1.0. Also, if a team forfeits their competition, they receive a poor rating.
