About Esports

Esports is a form of sport competition using video games. Esports often takes the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional, collegiate, or high school players, individually or as teams. WSC Esports fields teams for the following game titles; Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (SSBU), Valorant, Halo Infinite, Rainbow Six Siege, Madden, FIFA, and NBA2K. Within our program, students get the chance to excel at their game of choice, gain real industry experience, and develop critical leadership skills. At Wayne State College, we have an Esports program that competes in the ECAC Esports League and the NECC. Our current program record holds strong with six ECAC runner-up finishes in Rocket League (Fall 2020, Fall 2021), Hearthstone (Fall 2021), SSBU (Fall 2020, Fall 2021, Spring 2022) and two championship wins in SSBU (Spring 2021, Fall 2022). In our first ECAC season of Fall 2020, WSC Esports was awarded the Inaugural ECAC Esports Commissioner's Cup for best overall program performance. In our first NECC season of Fall 2022, WSC Esports emerged as Champions in Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch 2.
