Women's Rugby Flexes Defensive Abilities in Weekend Shutout

| By:
The Wayne State Women's Rugby team took a trip to Otsego, MN this weekend where they opened their season 3-0.

Both the offense and defense came ready to play all weekend, with their most impressive win coming first against Minnesota State-Moorhead 57-0. The defense continued to fire on all cylinders in their final two games where they defeated St. Benedict 31-0 and Minnesota-Duluth 30-0. When asked about the team, Selma Taylor was quick to mention Portia Star as a key player in this weekend's wins. She also stated that this year's team is full of new faces and they are still trying to learn everything.

"Fans at home games really make it fun to play in front of a crowd of your peers." Taylor said about fan attendance. The Wildcats have their home opener on Saturday, October 2nd, but the team will look to continue their success this Saturday when they travel to take on the University of Central Missouri.
