The Wayne State College Men's Rugby team capped off the regular season 11-0 after a 42-7 win against the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. This marks the second win over the Mavericks this season and marks an undefeated regular season for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats were the beneficiaries of a good team effort last Saturday. Six different players scored trys. Mpumelelo Mathias led the way scoring two trys, and five different players scored one try: Starrion Fenn, Braxton Rivers, Latham Harris, Seth Vallance, and Nokutendaishe Joel. Leading the way in tackles for the Wildcats was Colin Nqandela with 12.5, followed by Diego Stefani with eight and Keanin Kamp and Grant Fleecs, both with six.
In the regular season, the Wildcats outscored opponents 607-85, including four games where they didn't allow a single point.
The Wildcats will now travel to Clearwater, MN to take on the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons in the Round of 32 of the National Collegiate Rugby Championships.
