The Wayne State College women's volleyball club team took home an 8th place finish in their first Midwest Plains Volleyball Conference Regional Tournament. The Wildcats earned a 2-3 record during the tournament on Saturday.
The Wildcats opened up the weekend with two games of pool play. WSC kicked off the tournament with a 2-0 win over the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks B team. In their second and final pool play game, the Wildcats faced off with the Kansas State Wildcats, but came up short, falling in straight sets, 2-0.
After pool play, the Wildcats would enter tournament play. Their first game pit them up against the Arkansas Razorbacks B team. In a hard fought battle that went to three sets, the Wildcats fell just short, 2-1. In the second game, WSC battled the Kansas Jayhawks B team in another three set thriller. This time, the Wildcats came put on the winning end, 2-1.
After tournament play, the Wildcats qualified for an extra placement game against the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers B team. The Wildcats would fall to the Huskers in straight sets, 2-0.
These results culminated in an 8th place finish for the Wildcats out of 18 teams.
The Wildcats are back in action this Saturday, February 25th. They will travel to St. Louis, Missouri for the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Crossover Tournament.
