The three day event, from April 13 to April 15, featured 48 club teams from around the nation to compete for the chance to compete for a national championship.
The tournament began with three games of pool play on Thursday, April 13. The Wildcats drew competition against the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames, the Brown University Bears, and the Sacramento State Hornets.
Game number one was against the Flames. The competitive intensity was immediately proven, as the two sides split the opening sets by identical scores, 25-22. In the decisive third set, it was WSC jumping out to an early lead they wouldn't lose, as the Wildcats win the match 22-25, 25-22, 15-11.
Game number two was against the Ivy League's Brown Bears. The Wildcats took set number one by a 25-17 score. Set number two was another competitive battle, one that went into extra points. But the Wildcats never wavered, taking set two 27-25 and winning the match. WSC finished the initial round of pool play undefeated.
The final match of pool play came against the Sacramento State Hornets. The Hornets were no match for the WSC women, as the Wildcats easily took both sets 25-11, 25-17.
Entering Friday, the teams were yet again grouped into a different pool. This time, instead of pools of four it was pools of three. The pool the Wildcats were in a pool with the University of Tampa Spartans, who won their challenge game to move to 3-1, and the Pittsburgh Panthers, also going undefeated on Thursday.
Game one pitted the Wildcats against the Spartans. Tampa took control of the first set easily, winning 25-13. WSC battled back and won a tightly contested second set, 25-23, forcing another decisive third set. This time, it was the opposition, Tampa, taking an early lead and holding off the Wildcats for the three-set victory, 25-13, 23-25, 15-10.
Game two had the Wildcats battle against the Panthers. The Panthers easily brushed aside their competition in their Thursday competition. WSC was able to put up a fight, but ultimately the Panthers came out on top in a two-set sweep, 25-20, 25-17.
With the results of the past two days, the Wildcats got put into the Silver championship bracket, and their quarterfinal match was a familiar face in the Brown Bears. The Wildcats picked up right where they left off with the Bears, winning the first set 25-20. The Brown women showed the same fight they did in teh last meeting, only this time it resulted in a set win for the Bears, 25-15 in set two, forcing teh third set three of the tournament for WSC. In a back-and-forth battle, it was teh Bears who came out on top, defeating the Wildcats in three sets, 20-25, 25-15, 15-12.
