Women's Club Volleyball Struggles at NCVF Crossover

    The Wayne State College women's club volleyball team traveled to Aurora, Illinois to compete in the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Crossover Tournament.
    The Wildcats began the tournament with a challenge game against Maryville University, where the Wildcats walked away with the 25-10, 25-23 victory in straight sets. 
    WSC got put into pool D1-A, where they got matched up with the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Kansas State, and Missouri State. The Wildcats of Kansas State were the first challenger, and proved to be a tough matchup for WSC, as KSU took home the 25-18, 25-21 win in straight sets. Game two was against Missouri-St. Louis, who ran through the Wildcats 25-9, 25-14. Game three matched WSC against the Missouri State Bears, who was another tough matchup for WSC, as they sent the Wildcats home with a 25-15, 25-13 defeat.
    Bracket play saw the Wildcats enter the D1-Silver bracket, and their first round matchup was against the Southern Illinois Salukis. The Wildcats took the game to a third set, but fell short 25-23, 16-25, 15-9. This result moved the Wildcats into the consolation side of the bracket, where they matched up with the Kansas Jayhawks B side squad, as the Wildcats took home their second win of the tournament 25-13, 25-23. The 5th place match had the Wildcats play Truman State where the Wildcats fell short in straight sets 25-19, 25-22.
    The Wildcats finished 2-5 on the tournament and took home 6th place in the silver bracket. The next tournament the Wildcats will compete in this season will also be their last. They will travel to Kansas City, Missouri to compete in the NCVF National Tournament from April 18-April 21.
