On Saturday, January 25, the Wayne State College men's wrestling team is hosting a triangular meet with Coloroado State University and Iowa State University. This will be the second and third home dual in WSC history, following last year's dual with Kansas State University.
"We have been preparing for these duals for a while now," club president
Gavin Zoucha said. "I feel like we can show the school, the students, and the spectators that WSC wrestling doesn't care about who, what, or when we compete. We are just grateful for the opportunities we are given to be able to do so."
Colorado State is a familiar opponent to the Wildcats, as they have dueled with the Rams before, as well as faced countless of their wrestlers at various tournaments throughout the years. Iowa State is a new face to WSC, as they have never dueled nor battled any of their competitors on the mat.
Zoucha says the team has been transitioning well from tournament to tournament, and says this is "the most physically disciplined team I have been a part of."
"As long as we are focusing on what we can develop and get better at in the practice room, the results will come," Zoucha said. "We tend to go to as many divisional tournaments as possible, and those really highlight the things that do and do not work."
The duals are set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Rice Auditorium on the campus of WSC. Colorado State will be the first team to battle the Wildcats, followed by the Cyclones of Iowa State. The duals may be attended in person or watched via a livestream on the Club Sports YouTube channel.
