The Wayne State College Men's Volleyball club team went 0-6 and finished 41st at the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation National Tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. The three day event, from April 13 to April 15, featured 48 club teams from around the nation to compete for the chance to compete for a national championship
Play opened up on Thursday with three pool play games against the St. Olaf Oles, the Canisius Golden Griffins, and the Villanova Wildcats. WSC, while very competitive, failed to record a set win in the initial round of pool play. The Oles won 25-20, 25-18, the Golden Eagles prevailed 25-22, 25-19, and Villanova emerged 25-16, 25-15.
Friday brought two more games of pool play the way of the Wildcats. The first game came against the Brandeis Judges, who swept the Wildcats 25-15, 25-20. The second game came against the University of Minnesota State-Mankato Mavericks. The Wildcats were able to take the first set of the Mavericks, 25-20, but Mankato stormed back to win the match, 20-25, 25-21, 15-13.
WSC then entered a consolation bracket on Saturday, and drew Penn State-Harrisburg. Harrisburg was able to defeat the Wildcats 25-18, 25-15.
The Wildcats finish their season at 10-20-1.
