The Wayne State Club Baseball team traveled to Dallas, Texas where they competed in the Wood Wars Tournament. They had a slow start in their first game against Texas Tech, losing 7-0. The Wildcats had four hits in the game, two coming from Dylan Christensen. Eithan McKenna started the game pitching for the Cats, lasting three innings and allowing two runs. Andy Kirindongo and Ethan McSpadden each threw in relief, combining for five runs on eight hits in three innings of work.
The Wildcats second game of the day slated them versus Rice. McSpadden toed the rubber for Wayne State in his second appearance of the day. The Rice Owls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead through 2 1/2 innings before the Cats started their attack. In the bottom of the third, Wayne State scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead, giving their new relief arm, Mitchell Peatrowsky, some insurance. The bottom half of the fourth innings saw two home runs by the Wildcats, a solo shot from Ryan Roesler, and a grand slam courtesy of Kaden Ritz. Peatrowksy would retire the first out of the top of the fifth before Jordan Supriana came in to finish things off. However, Rice had different plans and attacked Supriana. Rice scored two runs off of Supriana's three walks and tallied two hits. Wayne State then turned to Bradley Howe, who was able to come in and get the final two outs of the game, an 8-4 victory for Wayne State.
In Wayne State's third and final game, they played Millersville. Roesler was the starting pitcher and led the Wildcats through a duel. Roesler started with a scoreless first inning before surrendering a run in the second. He would come back out for the third where he allowed another two runs, and Wayne State turned to Christensen with two outs in the top half of the third. He was able to get them out of the jam and came back out for the fourth where he once again held them scoreless. Christensen retired one batter in the top of the fifth and then handed the ball off to Canton Lippincott. Lippincott retired the final two batters of the inning, and held the game at 3-0 in favor of Millersville. Millersville held this lead thanks to a dominating performance from starting pitcher Dillon McKenna. He had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning before the Wildcats recorded their first hit, one of only two in the game. In the top half of the sixth inning, Lippincott recorded the first out before Millersville had an offensive explosion. Lippincott would surrender four runs on three hits and two walks before reliever Jakob Asche would enter. Millersville managed three runs on two walks and a hit before Wayne State turned the ball over to Peatrowsky looking for the final out of this barrage. Peatrowsky found it, but not until letting up one run on two hits and a walk. The Wildcats were unable to get anything going in the bottom half of the sixth and would lose the game 11-0.
This was the final scheduled game for the winter season of the Wayne State Club Baseball team.
