The Wayne State College Club Baseball Team spent their mid-term break down in Panama City Beach, Florida enjoying the weather and playing baseball. The Wildcats took the win in all four of their games.
Their first game was a 15-12 win over Ferris State University. No stats were available for this game.Â
The second game of the trip occurred on the Cats' second day in Florida where they took on Robert Morris University.
Ryan Roesler was given the start versus the Colonials. Roesler lasted five innings striking out six. After five innings, the game was deadlocked at three and the Wildcat bats got hot. A five run top half of the sixth helped propel Wayne State to the win. The scoring was kicked off by a two-RBI single courtesy of
Keithan Stafford. Roesler added one RBI and
Kaden Ritz tacked on the other two, giving the Wildcats an 8-3 lead.
Dylan Christensen came in and threw two innings of relief where he allowed two hits, but struck out three. Roesler is credited with the win.Â
After having an off day, the Wildcats faced a doubleheader on Thursday, the 10th. The first opponent the Wildcats saw Grand Valley State University.
Keithan Stafford was given the nod and once again did not disappoint. The sophomore earned the win in the pitchers dual while lasting the complete game. Stafford allowed only five hits and walked just one batter, while fanning nine. He earned himself two hits at the plate in the game as well. The Wildcats scored two in the top half of the fourth when
Andy Kirindongo doubled to score one. Kirindongo then scored on a Christensen single. Those two runs would be the only two of the game, but enough for the Cats to walk away with their third win of the tournament.Â
Wayne State's fourth and final win came in dominating fashion over Michigan Tech University. The Cats erupted for 22 runs on 22 hits in 4 1/2 innings.
Austin Tramp started for the Cats and threw all five innings, earning himself the win. Tramp allowed five hits, walked three, and struck out four. He allowed three earned runs in the game. The Wayne State sticks wasted no time warming themselves up. The Cats scored five runs in the bottom of the first before adding eight more in the second.
Jamison Urkoski was 4-4 at the plate with one double and three singles. Urkoski had three RBI's and crossed home plate three times. Every Wildcat tallied at least one hit in the game. Roesler and Tramp each doubled twice with Tramp leading the team in RBI's with four.Â
This was the first time the WSC Club Baseball Team traveled to Panama City Beach and they left their mark before leaving.Â
