Men's Volleyball Finishes Seventh at West Regional Conference Tournament

    The Wayne State College Men's volleyball team finished 3-2 to take home a 7th place finish at the Midwest Plains Volleyball Conference - West Regional Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska this past weekend. 
    The Wildcats opened with three pool play games. They first matched up with the Kansas State University Wildcats B team. Wayne State easily swept KSU, winning the game in straight sets, 25-10, 25-12. The second game drew the Wildcats against the Huskers of University of Nebraska B team. In a close competitive contest, it was the Wildcats getting the win again in straight sets, 25-21, 25-18. The third and final game of pool play saw the Wildcats and University of Kansas Jayhawks square off. The Jayhawks outplayed the Wildcats and powered their way to a straight sets win, 25-14, 25-18. This gave the Wildcats a 2-1 record after the conclusion of pool play.
    Onto the tournament play, where the Wildcats qualified for the silver bracket. The Shockers of Wichita State University were the Wildcats first contest. This game was competitive wire to wire, but the Shockers were able to do a little bit more and prevailed in straight sets, 27-25, 25-23. The Wildcats then moved on to the third place game in the silver bracket, where they matched up with the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks. The Wildcats were able come out on top with yet another straight set victory, 25-17, 25-14. These results culminated in a 3-2 record and a 3rd place finish in the silver bracket, 7th overall.
    The Wildcats are back in action at the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Crossover Tournament on February, 25th and 26th in Springfield, Missouri.
