| By:
The Wayne State College club baseball team finished a three-game series against Creighton University on Saturday, April 29. The Wildcats were able to steal one out of the three games played in Omaha, Nebraska.
The first game of the series was played back on Saturday, April 15. The game was a low scoring affair. No team was able to plate a run until the 4th inning. In the top of the fourth, WSC scored off of RBI's from Karson Sander and Jordan Oviedo. In the bottom of the fourth, the Blue Jays scored their only run of the game courtesy of a Ben Boonstra RBI single. This is all the scoring the game saw, as Wildcat pitcher Ryan Roesler pitched all seven innings and closed out the game for the 2-1 Wildcat victory. Roesler allowed the Blue Jays to only four hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters across his complete game performance.
Due to weather, to last two games of the series were pushed back to the 29th. In the first game of last Saturday's doubleheader, the Blue Jays' offense got rolling early, scoring two runs in the first and two runs in the second, before the Wildcats made a pitching change. Roesler came in for relief of Keithan Stafford with the bases loaded and got out the jam withut allowing a single run. Roesler allowed a run the next inning, however. The Wildcats answered by scoring two in the second and a run in the third of their own. This was the last of the offense for game one, as the Blue Jays even the series with a 5-3 win.
The series finale was all Blue Jays from start to finish. Their electric offense scored runs every single inning; four in the first, one in teh second, two in the third, one in the fourth, and five in the fifth to lead to a run rule win, 13-3, for the Jays.
The Wildcats finish their season at 15-12.
