The Wayne State College Disc Golf team traveled to Hays, Kansas to compete in the Fling at the Fort event hosted by Fort Hays State University. The Wildcats competed in the Mixed Amateur 1 division and came away with a 1st place finish.
WSC sent seven players down to Hays, creating two teams.
Blake Austin,
Braden Ehlers,
Benton Schaefer, and
Chris Ulrich combined for a team total of 118, with a 67 in round one and a 51 in round teams, resulting in a -8 finish. They were 12 shots ahead of the second place team in Wichita State's C squad.
The Wildcat B team also finished well. A third place finish of +7 was achieved by
Tucker Bruns,
Caleb Jenkinson, &
Ryland Stephens.
Individually, WSC saw some great finishers, including Schaefer who came out with the top overall finish, shooting +1. Ehlers and Austin tied for second, and Bruns tied for fourth out of 14 individuals.
The disc golf team will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Mid-American Regional Championships in Emporia, Kansas.
