Wildcat Disc Golf competes at regional championships in emporia

    The Wayne State College disc golf team traveled to Emporia, Kansas to take on the course at the 2024 Mid-American Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 10.
    The Wildcat team took a 23rd place finish out of the field of 34 schools. Tucker Bruns, Braden Ehlers, Benton Schaefer, and Chris Ulrich combined to throw rounds of 56, 64, and 67. That makes the total score 187 for the tournament, and a +2 finish overall. The B team of Aidan Conrad, Caleb Jenkinson, Aidan Shavlik, and Ryland Stephens finished +38 and placed 32nd.
    For the individual round, the 135 player field all played on a par 56 course in Emporia. Three A team members, Bruns, Ehlers, and Ulrich, all tied for 70th overall with a +6 finish. Benton Schaefer finished with a score of +13.
    The top overall B team member was club president Stephens, who finished tied for 87th with a +8 score. Jenkinson finish just one shot behind that with a +9, and Conrad finished with a +11 mark. Shavlik finished +41 during the individual round.
    This tournament concludes the fall season for the disc golf club. They will return to competition in the spring on the first day of March, when they travel to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to take on teh field at the Oklahoma Christian Conference Event.
