The Wayne State College club disc golf team traveled to Emporia, Kansas to compete in the Mid-American Regional Championship from Saturday, March 2 to Sunday, March 3.
The team brought eight players to the event. The individual round was first, with the highest Wildcat finisher being
Byron Carrera who ended up tied for 51st out of 128 players with a score of +4 on the par 60 course.
Blake Austin tied for 77th with a +8 mark and
Benton Schaefer rounds out the top 100 finishers for the Wildcats, as he tied for 88th with a +10.
Caleb Jenkinson and
Braden Ehlers both tied for 103rd with rounds of +13.
Chris Ulrich tied for 117th with a +16 and
Blake Rutten and
Ryland Stephens both finished with scores of +20, tying them for 122nd.
The team round saw the Wildcats split into two teams. Team A, consisting of Carrera, Austin, Jenkinson and Ulrich, tied for 23rd out of 33 teams with a +14. Team B, featuring Schaefer, Ehlers, Rutten and Stephens finished tied for 28th with a +42 on the round.
The Wildcat Disc Golf team will head to nationals April 3rd in Rock Hills, SC.
